Jonah Hex (2010)
The basic story
Jonah Hex is a bounty hunter who can talk to the dead. A former confederate general, Turnbull, who murdered Jonah's family while Jonah watched, is planning to unleash Hell on Earth by supernatural means. Hex has a price on his head himself, and the U.S. military makes im an offer he cannot refuse: His freedom for stopping Turnbull.
How was it?
I was offended... still am. First thing that comes to mind: What were they thinking when they made that? That was not Jonah Hex. Not even close. That was a western with supernatural mumbo-jumbo and a protagonist who can talk to the dead. Jonah Hex is something like Unforgiven or Pale Rider. Bounty hunters with a good aim and no mercy. Forgetting for a moment that they got everything about Jonah Hex and the continuity wrong, it is still not a good movie. Too much focus on the effects and Megan Fox and way too little focus on telling a coherent story. I'll give them one star for the effects, mostly for making Josh Brolin look like Jonah Hex, and the extra material about the comic. The movie? I would suggest watching something else.
