Background notes: Ferd'nand is a truly nice man, with all the faults of a man, and as such he obviously needs a wife to keep him busy with work and care for him. Mrs. Ferd'nand has never been given a name, but her identity has never been in question. When reading the series there is no doubt that she is a really nice person, and from the scolding both Ferd'nand and their son gets when they do something stupid, there is no doubt either, that she is a strong woman.
