Gilderoy LockhartRace: Human Occupation: Author Marital Status: Single Group affiliation: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry staff Base of operations: St. Mungo's Hospital, U.K. Story: Gilderoy Lockhart was a successful author and an idolized hero of the wizarding world. According to his books, he had traveled the World, taking on all manner of fearsome foes and saving the innocent [1]. In 1992 he became the teacher of Defense Against the Dark Arts at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In the year he was there, a basilisk from the Chamber of Secrets began roaming the halls. At first Lockhart boasted that he could defeat the monster, but when faced with the actual possibility of a fight he tried to flee instead. Ron and Harry forced him on a rescue mission in the Chamber of Secrets [1]. While on the mission Lockhart revealed to Harry and Ron that he hadn't done any of the thing he claimed, others had done those. Lockhart only mastered one spell and that was the Memo Charm. With this he made the actual heroes forget their deeds and took the credit. After revealing this to Harry and Ron, he tried to erase their memories too, but he used Ron's broken wand, so the spell backfired and ruined his own memories instead [1]. Gilderoy Lockhart became a resident in the long-term spell damage ward of St Mungo's Hospital, where he attempted to regain his memory [1]. He was last seen at St Mungo's Hospital with no recollection of his time at Hogwarts, writing autographs to imaginary fans [2].
