Indiana PippsEyes: Black Hair: Black and white fur Race: Dog Occupation: Archeologist and adventurer Marital Status: Single Known relatives: Goofy (cousin) Story: Indiana Pipps is an adventurer and archeologist who often work with his cousin Goofy and Goofy's friend Mickey Mouse. Continuity: Disney Company: Disney First app.: Topolino #1724 (1988) Creator(s): Bruno Sarda Maria Luisa Uggetti
Country of origin: Italy Background notes: Indiana Pipps' first appearance was in the story I predatori del tempio perduto in the Italian comic Topolino (i.e. Mickey Mouse). Indiana Pipps is a Disney version of Indiana Jones, and one of a score of Italian Disney characters which almost only appear in European stories. Some of the stories were published briefly in USA in Goofy Adventures, which only lasted 17 issues, but he is for the time being still a European phenomenon. Originally his name should have been translated directly from Indiana Pipps to Indiana Goof (Goofy is called Pippo in Italian), but apparently the editor thought it was too close to Indiana Jones and changed his name in USA to Arizona Goof. One single item of merchandise has been located, and that is a figurine. It is possible that other items exist. © Michael Pilgaard.
